JENN SLIFKA

COSMETOLOGIST + OWNER

Jenn decided she wanted to be a hairstylist early in high school. She LOVED styling her friends (and even teachers ) hair. Whether it was French braiding for sports, upstyles for proms, homecomings, and coronations, or just everyday having fun, she was always doing hair. Jenn worked as a receptionist at JC Penney's Salon while in high school and beauty school, so she also got a lot of inspiration there.

Jenn opened Chateau de Chic in December 2006. “I love doing hair in a small town and enjoy knowing most everyone who walks through our door. We have a great team and I am excited to see it grow!”

Her favorite part of doing hair is watching it transform through the process. Whether you are changing the color, the texture, the shape...it is amazing to watch the transformation that hair can go through by using different tools and products. “I love being able to connect with people while doing what I love. I love hearing clients' stories and their thoughts. Your clients become some of your closest friends and the trust they put in us as stylists is an honor.”

FAVORITE PRODUCT: "Moroccanoil’s Dry Shampoo and their Dry Texture Spray. The dry shampoo is a game changer for refreshing your hair on the days you don't shampoo. It breaks down product, softens and is very refreshing on your scalp. The dry texture spray is an AMAZING styling tool that completely changes the look of a style with just a few sprays. You can build fantastic volume and texture by layering and building it up in the layers. BUT, if I was stranded on a desert island, I would definitely go with dry shampoo!"

INFLUENCER: "In our industry, every single stylist you come across is an influence. We all have new experiences everyday and we are constantly learning from each other, especially my team at Chateau de Chic. We help each other out and give each other advice or tips when we need it."

FAVORITE HAIR THEN AND NOW: “When I was in high school, I was definitely obsessed with Gwen Stefani's hair. She always had fun, spunky hair and a lot of my styles and cuts were to mimic things she was wearing.”

“When I am not working I am still working. Owning a business is non stop...and we have a few of them. Fortunately I have a husband who is by my side that I love very much! We work together to make all this magic happen. We have three rambunctious boys who keep us on the move! Our home is in the country and it always feels like our own little getaway. I love gardening and would say my hobby is creative thinking. My husband and I are always dreaming up ideas, plans, thoughts and other wonderful things to keep life interesting. We thrive in chaos and I don’t think we would have it any other way.”
